Mardi Gras 3000 is a social artwork project: a mobile multiacoustic sound and light sculpture conceived for the Cajun region of Louisiana. The Idea is to equip Mardi Gras costumes with sound-to-light LEDs.

See awa-odori-3000 where we worked with local traditional dance groups in in the Kamijama area of Japan. Their costumes lit up according to the sound of the musical instruments accompanying them.
During a visit in May 2022 the following local Mardi Gras costumes were documented. Meetings with local cultural organizations took place among others in Lafayette (Blue Moon Saloon) and Mamou (Fred’s Lounge). Further meetings are expected.
